Bell XV-15 Tilt Rotor Front Side View

Bell Helicopter's XV-15 Tilt Rotor demonstrator aircraft. This aircraft proved the concept of the tilt-rotor transport and actually outperformed the larger Boeing/Vertol V-22 Osprey. Unfortunately internal politics at Bell prevented it or any derivative entering production to challenge the V-22.

On display at the National Air & Space Museum's annex, the Udvar Hazy Center near Dulles International Airport.
